New Features Introduced By The iPod Nano 6th Generation

by Anthony Villa

Even those familiar with iPods will be surprised how many new features the newest product in the series brings. If you are interested in buying the latest installment, then make sure you find out about the differences brought to you by the iPod nano 6th generation.

As opposed to older models, the iPod nano 6th generation now has a touch screen. This is probably the largest difference between models, and is bound to be the first thing that you notice when you pick it up. Debates are still going on as to which version is better, as some prefer to have regular buttons instead of the touch screen, but in the end it all comes down to personal preference.

Another new feature of the iPod nano 6th generation is the integrated clip, something the former iPods didn't have. The obvious benefit of such a feature is mobility, as now you can take the iPod virtually everywhere, without being afraid that you will lose it. By simply attaching it to your belt or other piece of fabric you'd be wearing, you'll always have the iPod with you and won't risk losing it.

The TFT screen itself is large enough at the 240 by 240 resolution, so you'll find it easy to browse through your songs. Another cool feature of the new iPod nano is its increased storage space, between 8 and 16GB. You'll no longer have to decide between the songs you like, because now there is enough space to add your entire music collection.

The iPod nano 6th generation is smaller than the previous models, yet the battery life is significantly longer, so you can enjoy your favorite songs for longer, without recharging. If this is all you do, then you shouldn't have any problems with the battery for up to 24 hours, especially if you let it play the songs in order. Energy consuming is the touch screen and if you use it a lot, then it will eat the battery faster and you'll need to recharge sooner than 24 hours.

Few other players offer the "Shake to Shuffle" feature, like the iPod nano 6th generation does. This allows you to change the song without looking at the screen, by simply shaking the player. A very quick and easy way of getting past songs you don't feel like listening at that moment!

Price-wise, the new iPod nano is a little more expensive than previous models, but offers a much larger capacity. That, and the new touch screen, makes it worth the difference, so if you're looking for a brand new player with solid features and impressive build quality, then this is certainly the player for you!
